Summary
Easterseals Southwest Florida seeks an energetic person who enjoys working with Toddlers and preschoolers ages fifteen (15) months to two (2) years old! If you have the patience to assist with the direct care and supervision of the children in the center and provide for their physical, social, emotional, and educational needs in a safe, clean, and stimulating environment - you are the perfect candidate.
Qualifications:
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED and mandated 40+5 hours of training by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Must complete training in Developmentally Appropriate Practices for the age of the classroom being taught (Infant/Toddler Children, Preschool, or School Age) within 60 days of employment.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in an early childhood classroom.
Required Credentials:
· Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License. Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certification is required; will train to obtain it if necessary.
· All employees must pass a background screening and drug test for employment.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement developmentally appropriate preschool programs for young children.
· Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social/emotional needs of the children in the program
· Ensure equipment and facility are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times
· Responsible for completing the classroom cleaning log with classroom staff and submitting it to the office each month
Supervise children in the center.
· Ensure children are supervised at all times
· Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
· Establish routines and provide positive guidance
· Implement positive discipline when required
· Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
· Observe children and make notes of progress
· Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner
· DCF Definition of Direct Supervision: SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN The knowledge of and accounting for the activity and whereabouts of each child in care and the proximity of staff to children at all times assuring immediate intervention of staff to safeguard a child from harm.
Communicate with parents/guardians.
· Discuss children’s development with parents/guardians
Maintain program administration.
· Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities, and their child’s progress
· Conduct semi-annual parent/teacher conferences with the Lead Teacher
· Maintain a portfolio and developmental assessment for each child in your class
· Prepare, maintain, and ensure the classroom meets compliance mandates for the Department of Children and Families (DCF), Manatee, Charlotte and Sarasota County Early Learning Coalitions, Manatee and Sarasota School Boards, and USDA inspections.
· Comply with Easter Seals policies and procedures utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.
· Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy. and effective communication while working at Easter Seals or when representing the organization.
· Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing; walking; bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching throughout the day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.

Compensation: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
