Speech Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow

Summary
Under the guidance and supervision of an assigned Clinical Fellowship Mentor, provides direct Speech Therapy services to clients, including assessments, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication.  Delivers Speech-Language Therapy under physicians’ orders to evaluate and provide treatment for Communication/Swallowing Delays and Disorders. 
 
Qualifications
  Education: 
·         Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from an ASHA accredited University. 
 
  Experience: 
·         Meets the requirements for Clinical Fellowship as outlined by ASHA. 
·         Has a working knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
·         Experience working with children and adults with Autism preferred.
 
  Required Credentials
   Department of Health Provisional License from the state of Florida. 
  Florida Medicaid number and National Provider Identification number preferred
   CPR Certification/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV/Aids/Medical Errors, mandatory (training available). 
  Valid Florida Class D driver’s license and auto liability insurance. 
   All employees must pass a background screening and drug test for employment.
 
Responsibilities 
·         Work under the guidance and supervision of assigned Clinical Fellowship Mentor for a total of 1260 hours. 
·         Conduct screenings of clients to determine need for intervention/treatment.  
·         Evaluate clients to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation.
·         Conduct specialized evaluations as indicated and interprets/communicates evaluation findings to client, family, and other team members.
 
 
Responsibilities (continued)
·         Establish individual client schedules in conjunction with other team members.  Coordinate treatment plan with client, family, and team.
·         Develop treatment plans by identifying a problem list, including short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.                  Implement and conducts treatment as outline in treatment plan.
·         Monitor client’s response to intervention and modifies treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with physician orders.
·         Develop appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of the client in their own environment.
·          Document results of client’s assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services.  Participate in discharge planning. 
·         Adhere to department procedures regarding documentation of Speech-Language Services. Record indirect and billable time according            to department procedure. Maintain a high level of productivity determined by Therapy Director.
·         Review the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual speech therapy programs for effectiveness and           efficiency, using predetermined criteria. 
·         Comply with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.  Maintain safe and clean           work area.
  • Comply with Easter Seals policies and procedures utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.  
  • Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy. and effective communication while working at Easter Seals or when representing the organization.
